International auction house high antique porcelain transaction price in 2025 TOP20

2026-01-16

In 2025, the international auction market saw numerous highlights as Sotheby's, Christie's, and Bonhams successively launched multiple major special auctions. These included Sotheby's “Ise Hikonobu” and “Okada Museum” auctions, Christie's “Goro Sakamoto” auction, and Bonhams' “Wisdom and Practice: A Life with Song Dynasty Porcelain” auction.

This article compiles the top 20 highest-selling lots from these three auction houses. The TOP 20 list centers on artifacts from the Song dynasty and later periods, with Sui dynasty white porcelain also performing exceptionally well. Beyond the Okada Museum Parrot Cup, the top lot was a Sui dynasty white-glazed plum vase sold at Christie's Hong Kong on October 30, 2025, achieving HK$3,048,000. A Sui Dynasty/white porcelain cup from the same sale also hammered for HK$2,413,000, setting a world auction record for Sui Dynasty white porcelain cups.
